The City of Sebastian has close to $200,000 available for septic to sewer conversion projects in the Sebastian Community Redevelopment Agency District.

They originally created the Community Redevelopment Agency as a means to ensure that the downtown and surrounding vicinity would develop with a coherent community vision and to encourage reinvestment and redevelopment throughout the CRA District.

Septic-to-Sewer Grant Program (SSP)

The Sebastian Septic-to-Sewer Grant Program (SSP) is available to residences or businesses located within the CRA District currently utilizing septic systems.

It provides qualified property owners with individual grants for costs that are incurred to remove an operational septic tank system that serves an occupied building or facility and connects to the Indian River County sanitary sewer system.

October 2019, the City of Sebastian sent out postcards to property owners within the CRA District who were eligible for hookup to the new County gravity line and reduced impact fees from the County.

However, many of these residences and businesses have not taken advantage of this opportunity.

The City of Sebastian will provide award amounts based on connection types at a 25/75% cost share in order to provide an equitable program.

If you own property in the CRA District and would like to see if you qualify for the Septic to Sewer Grant Program, contact Lisa Leger Frazier, AICP (772) 388-8228 or visit City Hall.
