Sebastian, Florida is known for its outdoor activities, and there’s plenty of things to do when you’re in town. Visitors can fish at the Sebastian Inlet State Park, or take a trip to Mel Fisher’s Treasure Museum, take a walk through the Pelican Island National Wildlife Refuge or skydive at Skydive Sebastian. The Sebastian Inlet offers surfing and fishing in Florida. It’s located in the Sebastian Inlet State Park in Brevard County. The inlet is off 12 miles north of Vero Beach off State Road A1A. It is the same location where the annual surf tournaments are hosted. Most visitors catch Snook and Redfish.
Skydive Sebastian offers both tandem skydive’s over the Florida coastline and tandem skydive’s to the beach. They are open seven days a week and usually skydive until sunset. Mel Fisher’s Treasure Museum and Gift Shop opened in Sebastian in December of 1992 by Mel Fisher’s daughter, Taffi Fisher. It has exhibits about archaeology, the 1715 Spanish treasure fleet, and a gift shop. The hours are Monday – Saturday 10 am – 5 pm and Sunday 12 pm – 5 pm. The North County Aquatic Center has an activity pool and a competition pool. The activity pool has water cannons, slides, bubblers, a huge water play structure, and a water tree. Riverview Park is the most popular meeting location for Sebastian residents to come together for outdoor fun, special occasions, and holidays. The activities at Riverview Park include “Twin Piers” for fishing and observation of the river, a Veteran’s War Memorial, a splash pad, picnic pavilions, two sand volleyball courts, and scenic walkways. This breathtaking park host the city’s Annual Clam Bake Festival, 4th of July Celebration, Music in the Park Concerts Series, Pelican Island Wildlife Festival, Art Festivals, and much more.
